Temporary Agency
Employees can go to a temp agency and generally find a job in a short period of time. It is also a way to get your foot in the door for a full-time position or to gain experience in a particular field. Employers can get a position filled temporarily so that the work is getting done effectively and efficiently while they search for a more permanent employee.
The main objective of temp agencies is to match qualified candidates with clients looking to fill temporary, non-employee positions. In addition to placement, background checks, drug testing, reference screening, and skills training are conducted by temp agencies, particularly the larger, more all-inclusive firms.

The temp agency employment model has long been considered a go-to for all categories of workers, including flexible, part-time, seasonal, and temp-to-hire hopefuls. Workers will be entered into the temp agency’s database and will be contacted whenever a position opens up that matches their skill set, availability, and location. These jobs may last as little as one workday or may turn into a coveted temp-to-hire position. Although the temp will usually report to work at the contracting company, they will still be paid by the agency.
Agencies charge the client an hourly rate for work performed by their temporary workers. The rate is based on the work being done and the skill level of the person being placed in the position. From this hourly rate, the agency pays the temporary worker their agreed-upon hourly salary and the remainder goes to cover business expenses.
Staffing Agency
Staffing agencies check references, screen resumes, shortlists candidates, schedule interviews, and place candidates who work on-site on the employer’s behalf. The candidate is an employee of the staffing agency working under the direction of the employer. Regardless of how well a company schedules its employees, staffing shortages are bound to occur.
Employers use staffing agencies to recruit candidates on behalf of their company to fill job openings on their teams and help candidates find career opportunities in their chosen field. The positions can be full-time or part-time, temporary, contract-to-hire, or on a direct-hire full-time basis.
Depending largely on the level of the employees and the type of staffing provided, corporate staffing companies' profits vary widely. In addition, staffing companies that specialize in different industries, such as legal or computer services, often demand higher fees. Some corporate staffing companies also provide key employees to companies for a flat fee. Companies that want to hire placed employees before the temporary contract is up may also pay a flat fee for that right.
It all comes down to relationships, relationships, relationships. Get to know your clients. Get to know their culture. Find out what their pain-points are. By doing so, you will become a true business partner who will be able to get ALL your clients job orders, contract and direct. The same thing goes with candidates, Relationships!
Using a staffing agency to find a job will also help get your resume in front of more employers – some you might not have even known were hiring! Recruiters work closely with the companies they send people to so they always have the latest insight on available positions at companies you’d be interested in working for. Recruiters can send your resume to multiple employers at once. This saves you a lot of time in your job search since you won’t have to take the time to apply to each position separately.
